Faith & Giving

Faith & Giving

We bridge the gap between faith-based giving and development outcomes through studies on religious philanthropy, values-based behavior, and social service uptake.

Faith-based institutions and systems of giving (e.g., zakat, waqf) play a vital yet under-analyzed role in Pakistan’s development landscape. These systems often operate in silos, lack transparency, and are disconnected from government or donor efforts. Moreover, religious values strongly influence public behavior in health, education, and family planning—yet are rarely integrated into program design.

We study religious giving systems (e.g., zakat, waqf) through qualitative and quantitative methods. Our research explores the intersection of faith, civic values, and development behavior. We help stakeholders—public, private, and faith-based—align religious giving with development goals. Through policy briefs, stakeholder mapping, and digital storytelling, we inform strategies that leverage faith-driven philanthropy for education, health, and social protection.
